In the rich elemental world of Arcadia, Magii are not the only sentient life forms to inhabit the realms. Born of concentrated elemental essence, Familiars are living beings that act as companions to residents of Arcadia.

Ranging from small to medium size, familiars are typically no bigger than an average Magii’s head - some smaller than the size of a hand! As such, they are generally unsuited to tasks involving any significant strength or labour (though not always), dissipating into element essence when harmed. This being said, it is not yet clear how harm befalls a familiar and it would be unwise to try to harm either the familiar or its owner.

Where Familiars excel is through their companionship and the passive abilities they bestow their companion. Many Magii benefit from enhanced magic regulation and capabilities whilst in the presence of their familiar and the good fortune they bring due to their keen senses when exploring.

Do not be tricked into thinking this relationship is one-sided. Familiars are reliable but dependent creatures with a large appetite for fun…and food. They require great attention and care, but commitment rewards you with a fiercely loyal lifelong companion, albeit a rather hungry one.

Despite their appetites, Arcadian researchers humbly note there appears to be no physical benefit to feeding your familiar as they do not grow or diminish in size if not satiated. However, they appear to be particularly reactive to certain Arcadian flora, most notably berries and mushrooms, with the former resulting in them adopting a new hue, and the latter mutating their appearance in strange and wonderful ways...
